One of the best horror movies of this year has finally arrived on streaming, and we're absolutely thrilled! It's the body horror flick The Substance, and this isn't a movie you want to miss out on. It was released in theaters back in September, and it's still making waves in the horror community. Talk about an impact!

If you're looking for something to watch that'll push your limits and challenge your senses, then you should definitely check out The Substance. It's very disturbing and graphic, with over-the-top gore. However, it's not for those who are squeamish. I'll tell you that!

As of Oct. 31, The Substance is still showing in some theaters, and you also have the option to buy it on Amazon Prime Video for $19.99 before taxes. But if you'd rather stream it instead, it's now available on the streaming service Mubi. However, you'll need to have a subscription to the streamer in order to be granted access.

Mubi has a monthly and an annual plan. The monthly plan will cost you $14.99/month before taxes, while the yearly subscription will cost you one whopping payment of $119.88/year before taxes. That's not all! Mubi also offers a 7-day free trial. Once the trial ends, you will automatically be put under the monthly plan. So, if you don't want to pay a dime, then you must watch the movie within those seven days and cancel the trial before it ends.

Demi Moore in The Substance

The Substance was written, produced, and directed by Coralie Fargeat, who is best known for writing and helming the action thriller Revenge. It stars 3x Golden Globe Award nominee Demi Moore as Elisabeth Sparkle, an aging, once-celebrated movie star who decides to take a black market drug to transform into a much younger and enhanced version of herself, only to end up encountering unexpected and deadly side effects.

Margaret Qualley (Kinds of Kindness, Maid) joins Moore in the cast, playing the role of Sue. Sue is the younger, more beautiful version of Elisabeth that she transforms into. Additionally, Dennis Quaid, Edward Hamilton Clark, Gore Abrams, Oscar Lesage, and many other actors are also in the cast.

The Substance had its world premiere at this year's 77th Cannes Film Festival in May before hitting theaters four months later. Critics and viewers alike enjoyed this body horror film, with many praising it for its engaging plot and compelling performances.

We provided some critic reviews below via Rotten Tomatoes:

"Fargeat delivers a macabre, funny, tragic, absurd and grotesque Grand Guignol of butts and guts; a bonkers and brutal “beauty horror” that elevates the genre to a hysterically unprecedented heights."

Katie Walsh

"It’s demented and absurd in the best way possible."

Katie Rife

"It's absolutely full of moments of really full-on -- and I mean REALLY full-on -- theatrical gasp-inducing horror that makes you go [GASP]."

Mark Kermode
