Spoilers ahead for The Bondsman episode 4, "Erdos"

We're onto our next demon, and this one is a dirt-obsessed monster called Erdos that kills and possesses a sheriff's deputy.

Hub is busy moping around his office, watching an old video of him and Maryanne performing at the Boxcar, when he gets the latest fax from Pot O' Gold. There's a quick moment where the show seems to confirm the woman Hub was burying and seemingly murdered is named Cheryl Dawson. Lucky is shown holding a missing poster with Cheryl's name and photo printed on it. Could Cheryl be the reason why Lucky tried to kill Hub?

At the actual Boxcar, Cade and Maryanne are practicing together ahead of Nashville, but Cade isn't feeling so confident in his abilities. Hub's disdain has gotten into his head and shaken his confidence, which has royally pissed Maryanne off.

Hub isn't the only Halloran skulking around. Kitty Halloran has an agenda of her own that leads her to smoke out Lucky's car so she can slip into the backroom of the Boxcar and hide a bag of crystal meth and a shotgun. It looks like she's framing Lucky for something. Maryanne catches her on the way out but lets her slip out the back door without alerting Lucky of her presence. Despite everything, these two are still close.

Kitty advises Maryanne to talk seriously with Hub, so she whips out her phone and tracks him to a hardware store (he's still on her family plan). Maryanne inadvertently waltzes right into the line of fire. The Erdos demon is haunting the store. Like the previous two demons, this one has claimed another victim, force-feeding the poor man until he dies. By the time Maryanne arrives, it's about done making another triangle out of dirt around the body. Maryanne is horrified at the sight.

Hub tells her to run, but it's too late to escape the Erdos. It tackles Hub, attempting to strangle him to death. Lucky for Hub, Maryanne is there and acts fast, hitting the demon in the back with a pick. The distraction allows Hub to shoot it in the head.

Back at the office, Hub gives Maryanne a chance to process what happened as she washes demon blood off of herself in the shower. Meanwhile, he contacts Midge regarding the sacrifices. She claims that demons don't do things like that and tells him not to call her again.

Even though the brush with death is scary, it brings Maryanne and Hub closer. Now she knows everything. Hell. The demons. And the truth about Lucky, that he hired the Earle brothers to murder Hub. Even though Maryanne knew Lucky wasn't a great guy, he provided her and Cade with comfort and safety, allowing her to start writing songs again. Now, all of that is going to change. Hub advises she and Cade to leave town like they were planning, to keep their son safe while he manages everything with the demons.

Their chat is interrupted by a call from Kitty, and we find out what she is planning. Yes, the cops arrest Lucky for the crystal, but that wasn't the real purpose of Kitty's plan. They also find the shotgun, and while the cops likely can't hold Lucky for the drugs, if he tries to expose Hub by showing anyone those photos, then Kitty can use the shotgun to connect Lucky to the crime, meaning they'd all go down together.

Hub gives Maryanne the chance to explain all of this to Lucky. He claims he's just trying to protect Maryanne and Cade, but now that Maryanne knows the truth, she's not so sure about that.

With the dust settled (for now), Hub says his goodbyes to Cade and Maryanne, apologizing to his son for his previous comments about him not being ready for the stage.

Outside, Hub runs into his mom, chatting with Sheriff Ruby. She asks why Hub was looking for a sheriff's deputy an hour before they found him dead in a hardware store fire. Hub claims he spotted his abandoned patrol car and wanted to check on him. Ruby doesn't look entirely convinced but leaves it alone for now.

Kitty warns her son that he better be positive that the fire burned the security footage. He can't hunt demons if he gets thrown in jail.
