The Front Room starring Brandy will be released on Max in January 2025
One of A24's new horror releases this year is scheduled to make its official streaming debut this January. It's the psychological horror film The Front Room starring Brandy Norwood, and it's coming to Max early next month. It will debut on the popular streaming platform on Friday, Jan. 3, 2025. Then, the next day, it will make its linear debut on HBO at 8:00 p.m. ET.
Like many other horror movies, The Front Room is based on another piece of work. It's based on Susan Hill's short story of the same name. Creative brother duo, Max and Sam Eggers, wrote the script for the film as well as directed it.
A24 released The Front Room in theaters back in September, and sadly, the overall critic and audience response wasn't too great. What's even worse is that it didn't do well at the box office. The horror flick generated very low box office numbers, ultimately only making 3.8 million worldwide. To put it in simpler terms, it ended up being a box office flop.
Belinda and Norman are a married couple looking forward to experiencing parenthood together. But their lives take a dark turn after they let Norman's deeply religious stepmother, Solange, temporarily live with them. Solange starts exhibiting strange and disruptive behavior, and she seems to have a personal vendetta against Belinda. As Solange continuously tries to assert her influence in the household, the couple finds themselves ensnared in a tense, psychologically draining ordeal.
Brandy stars in the leading role of Belinda. This is her second role in a horror film. She previously starred as Karla in I Still Know What You Did Last Summer (1998). Andrew Burnap (Snow White) portrays the role of Belinda's husband, Norman, and Kathryn Hunter (Poor Things) plays Solange.
A24 released two trailers for this horror film, and we shared them down below.
If you didn't get the opportunity to see The Front Room on the big screen, you'll soon get to watch it at home when it lands on Max in January 2025!
