Talk to Me filmmakers Danny and Michael Philippou are preparing to traumatize all of us again soon with their new A24 film Bring Her Back, but the Australian brothers aren't planning on slowing down anytime soon. They have multiple horror projects in the works, including a sequel to Talk to Me and another original horror movie!
The duo were interviewed on Bloody Disgusting's podcast The Boo Crew recently to talk about what's next for them and revealed more info on their upcoming works. As two of the most exciting up-and-coming horror movie directors right now, the Philippou's have already garnered a loyal fanbase, eager to watch whatever they deliver us next.
According to the brothers, they're still undecided about exactly which direction to take Talk to Me 2, revealing that they currently have two completely different scripts right now, each set in a different location with different characters.
“I’m equally excited about both. There’s one scene in one of them that I think will be one of the best things I ever shoot.”
But perhaps the most exciting tease (at least, for horror fans) they provided on the podcast is that the Talk to Me sequel will be "so horrific" that the filmmakers are still trying to figure out the practicality of the idea, which does seem to tie-in with what they said about creating one of the best things they've ever done.

The 2022 movie was already horrific, so the idea of making a sequel that's even scarier is enough to send chills down my spine. Talk to Me followed a group of friends messing around with an embalmed hand as part of a dangerous party game allowing the players to invite spirits to take possession of their body. Everything about Riley's possession remains one of the most disturbing things I've seen. In general, Talk to Me has some of the scariest possession scenes ever put to film. I cannot wait to see what these ideas are that the Philippou's are cooking up.
Even though Talk to Me was a big success both critically and financially, the brothers didn't want to immediately jump into a sequel, opting instead to step away first and return to this world "super reinvigorated."
In fact, before they delve into Talk to Me 2, they're probably going to work on their next original horror movie first, one they didn't share any details about just yet, but if it's anywhere near as good and terrifying as Talk to Me and Bring Her Back, I'm in.
“I’m writing another horror movie at the moment, which I adore so much. And it feels like it’s huge."
Bring Her Back starring Sally Hawkins (The Shape of Water) hits theaters on May 30 and revolves around a grieving foster mom (Hawkins) taking in a pair of siblings. But when they arrive at her home, they discover that there's something deeply wrong with their new guardian as she's desperately trying to bring her late daughter back to life through any means necessary. The film currently has a 92% approval score on Rotten Tomatoes.
