Eduardo's death devastates Miren, leading her to feel more isolated than ever. He left her a voice note after their disagreement, apologizing. She listens to it over and over again and throws herself into the investigation to keep busy.
Across town, Chaparro and Belén track down a man named Roberto Salcedo. He's the owner of the phone number they found written in Allison's handwriting, tucked into some of her belongings. Roberto runs from the cops, but they catch up to him later when the priest of Roberto's church contacts them.
Pleading with the police, Roberto swears he's a good man, but admits to giving Allison molly on the night she died. She had told him that she was "chosen" but a "coward," and needed the drugs to help her with something. Maybe she needed drugs to play the Soul Game. Roberto also tells them that there was a man with Allison, but he couldn't see his face.
Meanwhile, Miren and Jaime track down their latest lead to Laura's aunt and uncle, where Laura and her brother Nacho were raised after their parents died. Laura's aunt reveals that Laura was dating Tomás Mendoza, son of the powerful businessman Albert Mendoza. (Knew that guy would become important.) While Laura's aunt believes that Tomás was a problem and could have had something to do with Laura's disappearance, her husband remains unconvinced.
Miren pokes around the house at one point and discovers Laura's bedroom, uncovering photos, journals, and more that she photographs. She sees Nacho getting dressed in his room and notices that he has what looks like burn scars on his back.
After the meeting, Miren tells Jaime about her findings. Like Allison, Laura was very religious. She shared the same beliefs as her aunt and uncle. So, the idea that she might have run away because she didn't want to be around fanatics doesn't really hold up. Knowing that both girls were devout, Miren returns to their school to further question Principal Garrido.
There's another connection between them, now. Garrido studied with both girls. Miren questions if he spent long periods of time alone with them, insinuating that he could have taken advantage. Garrido patronizes Miren, implying Eduardo's death might have broken something inside of her. He also makes it clear that poking around in Mendoza business is a bad idea.
And speaking of the Mendoza family. Jaime tries to find a way to connect with Tomás so they can question him about Laura. We learn that Jaime's father is a pretty powerful man, though it's unclear who he is just yet. Jaime meets up with Tomás mother, Cristina, at her museum opening. She suggests the only reason Jaime got fired from his last job (and didn't get sent to jail) is because of his father's connections. Cristina makes it clear she's not going to give Jaime access to her son.
Miren returns to her car after her tense conversation with Garrido to discover someone has broken in and left a note for her on the seat. The note contains a mysterious link and the writing is the same as writing on the envelope containing Laura's photo.
Not long after his conversation with Cristina, Jaime is invited to chat with a man named Esteban Ruiz, a "friend" of Albert Mendoza. Their conversation is polite, but it's clear Esteban is sort of threatening Jaime to stay away, even making an offhand comment about knowing where Jaime's daughter lives. Not making the Mendozas look very innocent!
And Miren finds another potential ally in the investigation of Laura's disappearance. Nacho reaches out to her after overhearing her conversation with his aunt and uncle. He, too, believes that Tomás might have done something to Laura. He says he and his sister were very close, that Tomás had started acting weird around the time Laura disappeared, and that Laura intended to break up with Tomás. Perhaps he found out and did something about it.
Jaime also gets a call from someone important, someone claiming to be Tomás. Is it the real Tomás? We don't find out just yet. Whoever it is asks Jaime to meet them on a boat in the middle of the night.
Nacho and Laura's aunt and uncle go to the police because of Miren's comments regarding a potential connection between Laura's disappearance and Allison's murder. Hearing this, Belén pays Miren a visit and tells her to stay away from this case.
While Miren and Jaime embark on their separate investigations, Belén and Chaparro learn from the medical examiner that Allison had been pregnant a few months before her death and had an abortion.
The next time Miren is home, she visits the website from the note and solves the code to get in. An anonymous browser pops up and someone messages Miren, inviting her to play the Soul Game. She asks how she can join and the sender passes on another link.
