The fourth episode of The Snow Girl season 2 is an important one for Miren, as it delves into her past trauma. During the first part of the episode, we hear Nacho narrate segments of her novel as he reads about her past and Jaime stops by her apartment to tell her what he learned from Tomás about the Slide. Miren shows him all of her research into the organization, including a list of its most frequent visitors. She reveals the truth about what happened to her, including the video getting uploaded to the site.
For once, it seems like Jaime and Miren might be headed in the right direction with Tomás' help, but the next day at work, their boss, Paco, calls them into the office. Alberto Mendoza himself is sitting there alongside his lawyer. According to Alberto, Tomás had a psychotic break after Laura vanished and he more or less blames Jaime for his son's latest alcohol overdose. Tomás has been checked into a psychiatric hospital and Alberto prohibits them from doing any further investigating. Given his wealth and status, Paco demands Miren and Jaime to let it go.
But Miren is determined to follow the latest thread, especially when she mentions the Soul Game to Alberto and he gives a cagey response. She wants to investigate him, so Jaime takes Miren to meet a friend of his, a gossip guru of sorts who knows a little bit about everything. This man, Manuel Ramos, informs them that when Alberto was a teenager at Los Arcos, a girl died during his year. The entire thing was covered up. Only one woman, a teacher named Emilia Pedraza, pushed the police to keep investigating.
Obviously, Emilia is the next stop for Miren and Jaime. But her daughter refuses to let them into their house. Miren is eager to return to her apartment, as she's taken the first "test" in the Soul Game and the timer before the next one is almost at 0. She and Jaime part ways, with Miren going home and Jaime stopping by a local café. While there, he notices an older woman walking toward Emilia's house and realizes it's her.
Emilia chastises her daughter for being overprotective. It turns out, she is more than happy to discuss what happened at Los Arcos, telling Jaime she's been waiting for nearly 30 years for someone to ask her about it. She turns out to be a wealth of information, informing Jaime that Alberto fell in with the wrong crowd during his time at school, specifically his best friend...Andrés Garrido.
We knew Garrido and Mendoza were close, but Emilia makes it clear that Garrido was the businessman's closest friend in school. It was Garrido who acted as the ringleader of a group they formed together, a super-religious gathering that became known as the "Ravens of God." Together, they devised the Soul Game, a way to test true believers. A girl named Alicia Martos died that year, broke her neck, playing the game. As we know, it was completely covered up.
Clearly, Garrido knows far more than he's been letting on and Jaime now understands that Miren has been right all along.
While Jaime questions Emilia, Miren is instructed to return to the club where she was drugged. Whoever is speaking to her through the game's website coaxes her into taking drugs yet again as she weaves through the club, slowly becoming inebriated and hearing Eduardo's voice in her head. Miren passes out on the pavement outside.
Belén and Chaparro continue their own investigation into Allison's death as their target shifts to Laura and Nacho's uncle, Cristóbal. Cristóbal's alibi for the Friday night when Allison died is that he was at the fundraising offices for his pro-life organization. A woman there vouches for him, and it becomes apparent that she and Cristóbal have been involved for a long time.
She tells the detectives how when she was a teenager, Cristóbal stopped her from having an abortion and she's thankful to him. Later, Chaparro verifies the security camera outside of the building. Cristóbal wasn't lying. He did leave at 2 a.m., seemingly confirming he could not have killed Allison.
As for Allison's abortion, they learn that she ordered pills online and took them. Her grandmother, Juana, knew all along about this as she found Allison in the bathroom, bleeding. She's been mourning her grandmother's loss doubly so because she fears she has gone to hell for having an abortion. Juana even asks Garrido if it's possible and he says God is merciful. Juana, a janitor at the school, goes to clean Garrido's flat later that night and finds Allison's bloodstained Bible tucked away on a shelf!
