Axel is one of the best characters in the entire franchise, you follow me? It’s a shame he was killed of so suddenly. But that is always a risk you take as a character on The Walking Dead.

Of all of the prisoners found in the prison, Axel was the one to survive the longest. He was very kind and certainly an enjoyable part of the show. But his role came to an end when the Governor sent a bullet through his head right in the middle of a sentence.

Poor Carol had to witness it first hand, with Axel’s blood spraying her in the face. At least for Axel, maybe it was for the best that he never saw it coming. There are definitely worse ways to suffer and die on this show.
