Bio: Leon Basset has long been forgotten by fans of The Walking Dead, but he is the very first character on the show that we first saw as a human and later as a walker. He is also the first walker Rick encountered that was a reanimated version of someone he already knew.

When Rick and Shane were preparing to have a shoot-out with a group of thugs at the very beginning of the series, Leon seemed unfocused on the task at hand. He’d joke about appearing on World’s Craziest Police Chases, which was one of the last things Rick heard before getting shot and going comatose.

After Rick snapped out of his coma and returned to the police station for weapons, he discovered a zombified Leon growling at him from the other side of a fence. Rick recalled how careless Leon was as an officer, but that he certainly didn’t deserve to be left this way. That’s when Rick proceeded to put him down with a bullet through the brain.
