Tubi has become one of the most beloved streaming services out there because everything is completely free. Yes, you do have to watch ads, but it's still nice to get the chance to watch what you want without having to pay a fee.
Tubi has a great collection of movies, ranging from classic titles like The Texas Chain Saw Massacre to modern hits like the Insidious films. We've created a helpful list to point you toward some underrated horror movie gems you might have missed.
They Look Like People (2015)
They Look Like People is an excellent movie that marked the directorial debut of Perry Blackshear. It's an underrated and effective indie thriller with a humanistic approach to psychological issues.
The main character starts believing that evil creatures have possessed people around him, but he can't decide whether to save his friend or himself from the impending war he thinks is coming. The movie presents multiple plausible explanations, allowing the audience to theorize and consider what message the movie is trying to convey.
Pandorum (2009)
The poor reviews for this sci-fi horror movie prove that it's always better to try these types of films without immediately taking critics at face value, especially with the horror genre.
Dennis Quaid and Ben Foster are part of a crew sent into space to colonize an Earth-like planet, but their hypersleep is disturbed too early. Confused and alone, the men begin suffering from a form of deep space psychosis known as "pandorum," causing them to experience delusions as they question whether or not they are truly alone.
Haunt (2019)
Not much out there beats the thrill of watching a horror movie set on Halloween. Haunt is an entertaining slasher flick that has been mostly overlooked.
It follows a group of friends visiting a haunted house attraction that is said to be one of the most intense experiences ever, to the point that they have to sign waivers and give up their phones to enter. The owners warn their participants that this haunted house is determined to bring nightmares to life. No one expects just how dangerous that premise is when it becomes a reality for them. And yes, there is a creepy clown.
Incident in a Ghost Land (2015)
Ghostland is often cited as one of the most disturbing movies from the last decade, although it might not be for the reasons you think. This isn't necessarily a super gory and violent movie, but it tackles deeply uncomfortable themes and is certainly not the most politically correct horror film. It is a bleak and depressing film about two adult sisters returning to the house where a traumatic home invasion happened to them as children.
The Collector (2009)
The Collector is one of my favorite Saw knockoffs out there. It is a psychological thriller that plays with the home invasion trope by flipping the table on protagonist Arkin (Josh Stewart), a thief who breaks into a family's home to find valuables and use them to pay off a debt.
But upon arrival, Arkin discovers that someone beat him to the punch. A mysterious assailant has attacked the family and decked out the house with deadly traps. Suddenly, Arkin must fight for his survival and even try to save the family he was initially going to rob.
