ID has announced an upcoming new season of Death by Fame, a true crime series that takes deep dives into the dark side of being a celebrity. Death by Fame breaks down individual murder cases involving celebrities who paid the ultimate price for fame.
Those who follow true crime have long been fascinated by celebrity murder cases, and there are certainly plenty of them to explore. From possible murders (such as those of Marilyn Munroe and Natalie Wood) to confirmed cases (John Lennon, Phil Hartman, Sharon Tate), the general public just can’t get enough.
To be fair, many of the victims featured in Death by Fame were not necessarily well-known celebrities. Most were either seeking fame or on the cusp of becoming famous, but their stories often turn tragic because of that very fact. Jealous significant others often snap and end up killing the person they say they love.
Past episodes for the first and second seasons of Death by Fame have explored the deaths of Run DMC’s Jam Master Jay, who was fatally shot in his recording studio, “Godfather of Soul” James Brown, and Christina Grimmie. Brown died of congestive heart failure, but conspiracy theories have exited for many years. Grimmie was shot and killed in my hometown of Orlando, Florida only two days before the Pulse shootings took place there.
Criminal trial attorney Sara Azari lends her expertise to the featured cases, providing relevent commentary alongside interviews with family members, eyewitnesses, law enforcement officials and journalists.
When does the third season of Death By Fame make its debut on ID?
Season three of Death By Fame will premiere on ID Monday, January 13 at 9:00 p.m. Eastern Time. The first episode takes a look at the murder of aspiring actress Adriana Pinon, who worked as an extra on soap opera The Young and the Restless. Pinon was only 19 years old when she was murdered in a revenge killing.
Future episodes will feature the tragic deaths of model Mei Lei, whose torso was discovered near a dumpster in Encino, fashion designer Sylvie Cachay, who worked for Marc Jacobs, Tommy Hilfiger and Victoria’s Secret before she was found strangled and drowned in her hotel bath tub, and Valerie Dowden, a reality star who appeared on Bayou Billionaires. Dowden was shot in the parking lot of a Shreveport McDonald’s by her boyfriend Robert Gaddy.
With a total of eight episodes slated for the third season, that leaves a few more unannounced victims, so we will keep our eyes open for possible upcoming details.
