It’s always disappointing when a licensed movie leaves Netflix, especially a horror film. The platform’s horror selection isn’t the biggest to begin with, so every loss stings. Unfortunately, that’s just how things work. The availability of these types of movies is limited to a set streaming window, and once that contract expires, it vanishes from the platform. Sadly, we're about to see the departure of a 2024 supernatural horror that was added to Netflix late last year. It's the Dakota Fanning starring horror film The Watchers.

This movie was added to the streaming platform as a surprise back in late December 2024. It wasn't initially included in Netflix's December lineup, so no one was expecting it to suddenly appear in the library. However, this was good news for people who hadn't gotten the chance to see it during its theatrical run. While it was already streaming on Max, Netflix subscribers were finally able to experience the eerie supernatural horror without needing an additional subscription.

Now, unfortunately, its time on Netflix is coming to an end. At the end of March, The Watchers will no longer be available to stream on Netflix. Its exact departure date is Sunday, March 30, 2025. This means the last day to watch it on the streaming platform is Saturday, March 29, 2025. While this may be bad news for Netflix subscribers, it's not the end of the road for The Watchers. After the movie leaves Netflix, it will still be streaming on Max, where it has been available since August 2024.

You'll also still have the option to rent or purchase the film via digital platforms such as Prime Video, Google Play, Apple TV, or Fandango at Home. So, while Netflix is losing it, there are still plenty of ways to experience The Watchers if you're unable to watch it before it departs.

The supernatural horror comes from Ishana Night Shyamalan, the daughter of the talented filmmaker M. Night Shyamalan. She wrote and directed this film, which was produced by New Line Cinema through Warner Bros. Pictures. Based on A. M. Shine's 2021 horror novel of the same name, the story follows a young artist named Mina who, while traveling to Belfast for work, becomes stranded in the middle of a forest when her car unexpectedly breaks down.

Things take a darker turn when she stumbles upon a bunker and encounters a mysterious woman who urgently warns her to enter if she values her life. Inside, Mina meets two others and discovers that, like them, she is now trapped. With strict rules to follow for survival, Mina faces her worst fears as she realizes unseen creatures hunt them every night.

Fanning stars in the lead role as 28-year-old Mina. In addition, Georgina Campbell, Olwen Fouéré, Oliver Finnegan, Alistair Brammer, and John Lynch join her in the cast.

Look, don't let The Watchers' bad reviews deter you from giving it a chance. While it may not be for everyone, it might just have the chills you’re looking for. You have about four weeks left to stream it on Netflix, so why not give it a try?
