Eric Bana stars in the new Netflix original limited series Untamed, which will debut this month. The thriller/mystery series consists of six episodes, and is set in Yosemite National Park.
Bana (who also Executive Produced the series) stars as Kyle Turner, who is an Investigative Services Branch agent for the National Parks Service. There are a lot of things that can happen in a National Park, and Yosemite’s vast wilderness would be the perfect place for a criminal to hide, as well as find new victims.
In Untamed, a young woman is brutally murdered in Yosemite, and Kyle Turner is in search of the killer, hoping to catch them before they can kill again. According to the Netflix press release: “The investigation…sends Turner on a collision course with the dark secrets within the park, and in his own past.”
Partnering with Turner on his investigation is a new park ranger named Naya (played by Lily Santiago), who is a city girl just beginning to learn about the park. Chief Park Ranger Paul Souter (Sam Neill) is friends with Turner, and is willing to help with the investigation in any way he can.
Rosemarie DeWitt appears as Turner’s ex-wife Jill. She used to be a teacher, as well as a park counsellor, and has since remarried. Lily Santiago is Naya Vasquez, a police officer from Los Angeles, who is trying to start a new life with her young son Gael.
Shane Maguire (Wilson Bethel) was once an army ranger, but now serves as Yosemite’s wildlife management officer. He’s a solitary man, who chooses to live out in the wilderness.
Untamed will premiere on Netflix on July 16
The trailer for Untamed (which you can watch below) shows plenty of beautiful scenery, but also gives us part of the story as everyone tries to identify their Jane Doe victim. Of course, that also means there is a possibility the killer will strike again, so it’s imperative that he is caught…and caught soon.
Judging by the trailer, there are also secrets in Kyle and Jill’s past, and something he seems to be feeling guilty about.
Elle Smith (Wer) and Mark Smith (Overlord, The Revenant) are the writers and showrunners for Untamed, and Thomas Bezucha (Let Him Go), Neasa Hardiman (Jessica Jones) and Nick Murphy (The Awakening) each directed 2 episodes.
