Closing out January, Warner Bros. Pictures has brought the horror film Companion to theaters. Early reviews have been positive, with many critics praising the movie for its unexpected twists, dark humor, and strong performances, especially from Sophie Thatcher and Jack Quaid.
If you're a horror fan, this is definitely one to see on the big screen. However, there's no need to panic if you miss it in theaters. You’ll still have a chance to catch it when it hits digital platforms. It is also expected to make its way to a streaming platform eventually. So, whether you prefer the theater or watching from home, Companion will soon be accessible for horror fans everywhere.
That being said, you're probably wondering when exactly it will be available on digital. Unfortunately, an official digital release date hasn't been announced yet, which isn’t too surprising considering the horror film just hit theaters. However, we can make an educated guess about when Companion might appear on digital platforms by looking at the release patterns of previous Warner Bros. films.
In recent years, Warner Bros. movies have typically become available to rent or buy on digital retailers 30 days or less after their theatrical release. For example, M. Night Shyamalan's Trap was released in theaters on Aug. 2, 2024, and 28 days later, it became available to rent or purchase digitally. Another example would be the supernatural horror film The Watchers. That movie hit theaters on June 7, 2024, and 21 days later, it arrived on digital platforms.
If Companion were to follow a similar digital release pattern, we could possibly see it become available for digital purchase or rental sometime in late February or early March 2025. However, this is purely speculative, and official confirmation will likely come closer to the conclusion of the movie's theatrical run.
Regarding what digital platforms Companion will be released on, it'll likely be on platforms such as Prime Video, Apple TV+, Fandango at Home, Google Play, etc. We're most likely looking at a purchase price of $24.99 and a rental price of $19.99. That's the usual pricing model.
A physical media release is also expected. We've seen previous Warner Bros. movies receive physical media releases about two to three months after their theatrical releases. This means we could possibly see Companion available to own on 4K UHD, Blu-ray and DVD sometime in March or April 2025.
Finally, let's talk about its expected streaming debut. As a Warner Bros. film, Companion will most likely stream on Max. We can probably expect its streaming release in March or April 2025. However, keep in mind that this is just a release prediction. Once an official streaming release date is confirmed, we'll be sure to let you know.
