Taissa buries Van and eats her heart

If you recall from the previous episode, adult Van meets a tragic end at the hands of Melissa. After Melissa closes the flue of the fireplace, causing everyone in the house to suffer smoke inhalation, Van arrives to rescue Taissa and Shauna. She runs back into the house with the intention to kill Melissa, but is unable to do so. In her moment of weakness, Melissa grabs her knife and fatally stabs her. Melissa then leaves the house before Taissa and Shauna walk in and see a lifeless Van lying on the ground.

In the season 3 finale, Shauna takes Taissa to a secluded spot in the woods to bury Van. Taissa digs a hole in the ground for the burial, then carefully rolls Van's body, wrapped in a carpet, into the grave. She then declares that she's finished with forgetting and is ready to remember everything from their time in the wilderness. The true shock comes when Taissa stabs Van's dead body, removes her heart, and consumes it. She then heads back to Shauna, who is waiting in the car. With Taissa's face all bloody, it's clear to Shauna what has just happened. Shauna doesn't say anything, but the look on her face says it all. She knows exactly what Taissa has done, but she knows she can't judge her. They've both crossed lines that can't be undone, in the wilderness and in the present, and in that moment, any words feel inadequate.

Callie killed Lottie in Yellowjackets season 3

In the penultimate episode, adult Misty meets with Wally, who brings her to his remote home. But Misty isn’t there for casual conversation. She's still focused on her mission to uncover who killed Lottie, and since Wally has cloned Lottie’s old phone, she believes it might hold the key to solving the mystery. After tricking him into leaving her with the phone, she looks through the photos and gasps at something she finds. While we don't find out what she saw in this episode, we do in the last episode of the season.

In the Yellowjackets season 3 finale, Misty goes to Callie's school and finds her smoking behind the bleachers. She then accuses Callie of killing Lottie, to which Callie denies. That's when Misty whips out Lottie's cloned phone and shows Callie a photo of herself, catching her off guard. However, Callie continues to deny any involvement in Lottie's death, saying that the photo doesn't prove anything. Misty, anticipating Callie's reaction, follows up by explaining that she initially suspected Shauna as the murderer after discovering her DNA under Lottie's fingerprints.

However, Shauna's alibi checked out, so Misty knew it couldn't have been her. But when she saw the photo on the cloned phone, it jogged her memory. She recalled that mothers and daughters share the same mitochondrial DNA, and the DNA she had found under Lottie’s fingerprints actually belonged to Callie. At that moment, Callie finally cracks and confesses, admitting that she never intended to kill Lottie. She then shares the full story, explaining how everything went down.

Do you remember the tape that Callie found outside her home in an envelope? The one addressed to Shauna, which we later discovered was sent by Melissa? Callie had it for a while, but after Shauna kicked Lottie out of their house, the tape mysteriously vanished. Callie suspected that Lottie had taken it, so she went to the place Lottie had mentioned she’d be staying, which was her dad's house. As she's walking through the lobby, she sees Lottie coming out of the building's basement. Lottie stares at her in shock before saying, "It's you." She then takes Callie into the basement, which is set up with candles lining the stairwell.

During their conversation, Callie finds out that Lottie did, in fact, take the tape. But what really freaks her out is when Lottie tells her that she's the child of the wilderness and that the wilderness has brought her there to her. Hearing this, Callie is instantly unsettled and tries to make a quick exit. However, Lottie grabs her and utters more cryptic, chilling words. This time about her mother, Shauna. Lottie claims that Shauna can't love Callie because she’s envious of the power Callie holds. This strikes a nerve with Callie, who, unable to contain her anger, pushes Lottie down the stairs to her death.

She instantly regrets what she’s done and rushes down the stairs to find Lottie’s lifeless body. Frantically, she searches through Lottie’s clothes, retrieves the tape, and swiftly exits the basement. The episode then cuts to the present timeline. Callie heads home and tells her dad, Jeff, about what she did. While initially stunned by the revelation, Jeff eventually calms down and comforts Callie. Later in the episode, we learn that they packed up their belongings and left Shauna behind. Shauna finds out they've left after she comes home to find them and their stuff gone. After she messages Jeff multiple times, he finally texts her back and says that he and Callie are fine but just need space.

Mari is revealed to be Pit Girl in Yellowjackets

If you were among those who suspected Mari was Pit Girl, the Yellowjackets season 3 finale finally reveals the truth. After surviving a harsh winter earlier in the series, the survivors finally found some relief when summer arrived this season. However, in the season 3 finale, a second winter sets in, and the food supply is running low. When Akilah discovers all the animals in their compound are dead, Lottie claims it's because the wilderness isn't happy with them. She believes that to appease it, they're going to have to spill more blood. Essentially, she claims that the wilderness demands another sacrifice, leading them to organize another hunt.

We later learn that the animals didn't die because of the harsh conditions. Akilah killed them because she knew it would lead to a hunt. She was mad at Lottie for making her believe that she had visions, and she was hoping that Lottie would become the huntee. When things didn't work out that way, she found another opportunity to kill her in the cave. But in the end, she didn't go through with it. Now, let's get back to the hunt.

Van is the one responsible for dealing the cards that determine who will be the huntee. Tai persuades her to rig the game in their favor for protection. However, they still need to decide who will receive the Queen of Hearts card, as the person who gets it will be the one chosen as the huntee. The next morning, the game starts. Cards are handed out, and no one has received the Queen of Hearts card just yet. Then, they get to the last two people, which are Shauna and Mari.

Shauna quickly realizes that Van and Tai rigged the game, knowing that she was meant to receive the Queen of Hearts card. To avoid this fate, she moves to stand beside Tai. When her turn comes, she pulls a random card that's not the Queen of Hearts. Shauna is safe, but Mari isn’t so lucky. When Mari pulls the Queen of Hearts, it marks her as the huntee. After the heart-shaped necklace is placed around her neck to signify her as the sacrifice, the girls begin the countdown. Without hesitation, Mari bolts into the woods, running for her life.

In an attempt to mislead the girls into thinking she went one way, Mari sheds her jacket and drapes it over a branch, then quickly takes off in the opposite direction. As she runs, she trips and injures her foot, slowing her down. Eventually, she encounters Lottie, who has just exited the cave. They have a short conversation before Mari gets up and continues running. But she ends up running right into the spiked pit that Travis had set up in a previous episode to try to lure Lottie into. With it being winter, a bunch of snow has covered the pit. Unable to see the concealed danger beneath the snow, she falls directly into the pit, impaling herself on a bunch of spikes. Van is the first to find her dead body, followed by the rest of the girls.

Shauna orders some of the girls to pull Mari's body out of the pit, and they hang her from a tree. She then orders Natalie to cut up her body to prepare it for dinner later that evening.

Sophie Thatcher as Natalie in Yellowjackets season 3 | Kailey Schwerman/Paramount+ with SHOWTIME

Natalie gets the satellite phone to work

In the previous episode, Natalie discovers that Misty is the one responsible for them being stranded in the wilderness after she spots her holding the plane's transponder. She also learns from Misty that Van is working on repairing the scientists' satellite phone to try and get help. In the season 3 finale, Natalie is more determined than ever to get back home.

While the girls are hunting Mari, she goes to retrieve the satellite phone. However, she feels someone watching her. She finds out that Hannah is following her. They get into a physical altercation where Natalie gets the upper hand. Hannah immediately starts pleading for her life, saying that she's on her side and that she just wants to get home. Natalie ends up trusting her, and they come up with a plan.

After the girls feast on Mari’s remains for dinner, Shauna approaches someone she believes is Natalie the next morning, ready to confront her. But when the girl refuses to respond, Shauna pulls off her headpiece, only to realize it’s not Natalie at all. It’s Hannah! Furious, Shauna spins around, shouting for Natalie. Meanwhile, Van and Misty exchange knowing smirks because they know exactly where she is.

The episode cuts to the last scene where Natalie is climbing an icy mountain. Once she reaches the top, she places the satellite phone on the ground and inserts the transponder. After getting a signal, she's able to get in contact with the police. The episode then ends here.

Here are some more important reveals and things that happened in the Yellowjackets season 3 finale:

  • Taissa and Misty decide to team up to put a stop to Shauna. After Van is murdered, Taissa blames Shauna. She begins to see Shauna as the root of everything that’s gone wrong—both during their time in the wilderness and in their present lives. Tired of covering for her and standing by her side, Taissa is ready to bring her down. And who better to help than Misty, who’s been clashing with Shauna all season?
  • Shauna is revealed to be the Antler Queen. As the group prepares Mari’s body for consumption, the other girls assist Shauna in getting dressed. But it’s not just any outfit. They carefully dress her in ceremonial attire, the symbolic garb of the Antler Queen, solidifying her role as their leader.
  • With her family gone, Shauna looks to be slipping back into her old ways.
