What could be more terrifying than a malevolent entity feeding on you? That is the premise of new horror movie It Feeds, a dark tale about a young girl claiming to be the victim of an unknown being slowly consuming her.
Twilight alum Ashley Greene leads the cast as a psychiatrist named Cynthia who must help the girl in need after she comes calling at her psychiatry practice, dragging both Cynthia and her daughter Jordan into a disturbing scenario involving this mysterious evil force. They have to work together to stop the being before the poor girl is completely consumed.
Since It Feeds went straight to VOD, there is a decent chance that many people missed it. But that's a mistake you should fix ASAP if you fall under that category. It Feeds has been getting positive feedback from critics, who appreciate the film's study in trauma and the strong blend of practical effects with CGI.
It's a film confident in its scares and story, with at least one reviewer saying, "Greene delivers one of the best performances of her career."
People who enjoy a good jump scare will be pleasantly (or not so pleasantly) fulfilled by It Feeds, which employs at least a handful that genuinely shocked me. The movie kept me engaged and on edge throughout its modest runtime. But what I appreciated most about It Feeds is its genuinely surprising final act.
While the movie's premise isn't wholly original, I commend the screenwriter for taking a bold, creative, and eerie direction for the movie's last twists and turns. It's not often that I watch something that can still manage to surprise me in this genre, but It Feeds succeeds thanks to its daring and stylish story beats.
Ellie O'Brien, Juno Rinaldi, Shawn Ashmore, and Shayelin Martin also star. The film was written and directed by Chad Archibald, whose previous movies include The Heretics, Bite, and I'll Take Your Dead.
It Feeds is now available to rent or buy on digital.
