Starting this June, US Netflix subscribers will be able to watch several classic Alfred Hitchcock films on the streaming service! Currently, a startling few of the iconic director's movies are available to watch on streaming, so it will be a refreshing change of pace to have classics like Rear Window and The Birds at our fingertips.

The following titles confirmed to be added to Netflix US on June 1

  • Vertigo
  • Rear Window
  • Frenzy
  • The Man Who Knew Too Much
  • Family Plot
  • The Birds

Additional Hitchcock movies will be added. Psycho is already available to stream. Another exciting aspect of this upcoming batch of movies is that it will include modern horror films that were heavily influenced by Hitchcock's works. Specifically movies like Barbarian, Us, and a narrative feature about the filmmaker directed by Sacha Gervasi.

So, why is Netflix blessing us all with this excellent collection?

The decision to add these movies to Netflix is part of a desire to honor one of the most legendary and iconic film directors of all time. Apart from adding movies to Netflix, several of Hitchcock's movies will receive cinematic screenings at the Paris Theaters, the longest-running arthouse cinema in New York City.

Beginning on May 16 and running through June 29, ticket-buyers can participate in "HITCH! The Original Cinema Influencer," a special six-week series, featuring over 50 films, 36 of which are directed by Hitchcock himself. Other movies included "either trace the stylistic influences behind Hitchcock's filmmaking, are works made in collaboration with him, in his style, or as direct homages to his legacy."

At least 35 films shown during the series will feature 35mm showings, such as classics like Vertigo and North by Northwest. Those interested in purchasing tickets to the Paris Theater screenings can visit this website for more information.

Even if you don't live near New York and can't make the in-person screenings, this opportunity to watch a master's body of work on Netflix is an excellent opportunity for any budding filmmaker or horror fan. Hitchcock's films are a must watch to learn more about the history and legacy of filmmaking. To be able to watch several of them back-to-back will be a treat and one that we haven't had before in the streaming era.

The collection of Hitchcock films will start streaming on Netflix beginning June 1.
