1. Bill Murray in Zombieland

It wasn’t hard at all to pick the number one spot on this list. Really, there’s no question. This entry in particular is likely what most of you thought about immediately when you saw the title of this list. But whether it’s predictable or not, it’s totally true— Bill Murray’s Zombieland cameo is not just the best of this type, but one of the best movie cameos period.

In the horror-comedy film from 2009, a group of survivors wind up in Bill Murray’s mansion while seeking shelter from the undead. Much to the surprise of Tallahassee (Woody Harrelson), one of Murray’s biggest fans, the actor had survived the outbreak by dressing up as a zombie to safely travel outdoors by tricking the dead into thinking he was one of them.

Then they get the idea to prank Columbus (Jesse Eisenberg), who wasn’t yet aware of Murray’s survival. The plan was for Murray in zombie make-up to sneak up on Columbus while he was watching Ghostbusters and scare him, but the trick goes bad when the Columbus reacts by blasting Murray with a shotgun.

It was sad to see Murray die, but even in his death scene, he was just as hilarious as always. When asked if he had any regrets, he referenced Garfield: The Movie— the critically-panned film based on the comic strip in which Murray had lent his voice.
