10. Evander Holyfield in Blood Salvage

There are only two boxers I clearly remember from my childhood, and they are Mike Tyson and Evander Holyfield. The two of them obviously had that notorious bout which ended with the consumption of one’s ear, but we’re not going to get into that here. We are instead going to focus on Holyfield in particular, and an on-screen fight he had that was just as insane as the “fight with a bite”— only it wasn’t real.

Blood Salvage was a horror movie released in 1990 from filmmaker Tucker Johnston, about a demented redneck named Jake who hunts people on the highway. After kidnapping them, he performs bizarre medical experiments on them, then harvests their organs for sale on the black market.

It’s not the type of movie you’d expect to see Evander Holyfield randomly appear in, but he does show up as himself in the best part of the flick. As seen in the clip above, Holyfield plays a carnival boxer who punches a hillbilly in the face— then kindly apologizes. The cameo has no effect on the plot and wasn’t entirely necessary, but as Holyfield was already on-hand anyway as a co-producer, why not throw it in?
