8. The plan was originally to skip straight ahead to Army of Darkness

All Bruce Campbell fans know the original Evil Dead trilogy very well. It caps off with the 90s flick Army of Darkness, which sends Ash back in time to face hordes of Deadites in a medieval environment.

Director Sam Raimi actually first got the idea for Army of Darkness after doing the original film The Evil Dead. He loved the concept of sending Ash back to medieval times, with the idea of calling the film The Medieval Dead. However, Raimi came up short from his goal of $4 million in raising the funds to produce the film, so he had to put his Medieval Dead idea on pause.

Things worked out for the best, though, as this would result in giving us what we now know as Evil Dead 2: Dead by Dawn. And we STILL got Army of Darkness later as well!
