Ash vs Evil Dead received a Season 3 start date this past weekend at NYCC and fans couldn’t have been more thrilled. However, one thing became amazingly clear. At every turn, series star, Bruce Campbell was extremely vocal about the fact that the show had not been renewed for Season 4.
He gave tips on how to get Lionsgate to pay attention at the BUILD series and he mentioned it again at the panel discussion. Even during his current book tour for Hail to the Chin, he has been telling fans nonstop how to get the show renewed for Season 4.
To recap, basically the problem lies with people illegally downloading the show. Bruce has mentioned this ad nauseum. We have covered this for several months as well.
The Bruce Campbell Method
Here is what you can do to help Ash vs Evil Dead get a season four renewal:
- Download the Starz app. Do the 30-day free trial. Binge the show. Delete the app. Cost to you: $0.
- Purchase Starz through your local cable provider. Cost to you: Prices vary according to area and company.
- Purchase the show DVDs and Blu-rays. Merchandising is important. If you fork over the dough, you get the show. Cost to you: DVDs: Walmart $14.96 for Season 1. Walmart $23.82 for Season 2. Blu-rays: Walmart $14.96 for Season 1. Walmart $23.82 for Season 2.
- Start binge watching AVED if you have the app. Introduce friends to the show.
Lionsgate is a business after all. When the series is illegally downloaded, they have no way of accurately knowing how many people are watching the show. Campbell remarked at the BUILD series Q & A that the network tells them that they have to get the ratings up. Well, this is the reason why the ratings are skewered.

Finally, it seems like the fans are listening. There has been chatter on social media with fans chastising people for illegally downloading the show. They understand the ramifications and how it can literally be a series killer.
Yes, Season 2 ratings for AVED were a tad lackluster but the illegal downloading probably affected it. The series had fine performances, stellar writing and several stand out and critically acclaimed episodes.

The latest one is through Change.org. Most of the fans who have signed are quick to point out that they are legal and support the show vehemently.
Also, quite a few viewers on Twitter and Facebook have taken to adding the #bringbackboomstick to their social media posts. If this could become a trend, that is yet another way for Lionsgate to hear your voice.
The more individuals they hear from coupled with a boost in ratings will let Lionsgate know that Season 4 is warranted and would be beneficial. So, keep fighting the good fight! We will continue to do our part at 1428 Elm by covering and supporting the show in every way possible.
Season 3 premieres on February 25, 2018 at 9 PM on Starz.
