Ash vs Evil Dead: bringbackboomstick.com is about to storm the internet
#BringBackBoomstick isn’t a fad. It is a real bona fide fan movement to get Ash vs Evil Dead a Season 4 renewal. Guess what? Now, an enterprising fan has created a website and we at 1428 Elm are ready to unveil this work in progress.
“I coulda gave up then but then again I couldn’t have ‘cause I’ve traveled all this way for something.” -Imagine Dragons
The Issue
When we started #bringbackboomstick several months ago, we had no idea it would catch on. Then when all the news broke about Season 3 being delayed and Ash vs Evil Dead in limbo about Season 4, suddenly this little campaign took on an entirely different life.
Then New York Comic Con hit and fans rejoiced! They were given a season three start date of February 25, 2018. Bruce Campbell during the Build series told fans to “Send big, sloppy love letters to Starz if you want Season 4.”
Illegal downloading of the show is a real problem and a ratings killer. Because Starz can’t get “true numbers” on the show, they can’t see who is viewing it. The bottom line is that Lionsgate is not a charity, it is a business.
It is driven by money like any other multi-national corporation. If they can’t tell who is watching because those individuals are pirating the show, then they assume that the show is not generating revenue. That is when I decided to start writing about the plight of Ash vs Evil Dead in the hope of educating the fans.
I also wanted to devise a way where they could get their voices heard by Starz and maybe make a difference. Some people told me, “Yeah, I have the app and I have the Blu-rays. That’s enough.” Sure, you have done your part but you can do more.
We’re Not Going Away
Tell the network about it! “But the network doesn’t care. They have my money.” In my mind, those fans are going to be the first people complaining if the show doesn’t get renewed. Then at every appearance that the Ghostbeaters make all they will hear is, “When is the Ash vs Evil Dead movie coming out?”
If the show gets canceled, there won’t be a movie. If that sounds pessimistic, I apologize but it is reality. Then Joshua Mann of the Bruce Campbell Fan Club created the #bringbackboomstick event where all the fans tell Starz on social media that they have the service, they have the merchandise and they want season four.
My friends at Bruce on the Loose podcast, Dino Lorenzo and Abby Fagan jumped on board and the ball kept rolling. One-night Abby and I were talking and she created an awesome video instructing fans on how to approach Starz using my four steps “Bruce Campbell Method.”
Bringbackboomstick.com
#BringBackBoomstick became a battle cry for all the devoted fans of the Evil Dead franchise. Then a great thing happened. Emanuele Crevillo, another member of the Bruce Campbell Fan Club, created a website bringbackboomstick.com.
This isn’t a one-time event, this is an ongoing mission to ensure that AVED gets a Season 4 renewal. The site is a one stop shop. If fans haven’t signed the petition to save the show yet, they will find a link here.
In addition, there will be a Facebook link where fans can showcase their love for their favorite Ghostbeaters by posting pictures of their merchandise and other memorabilia. Most importantly, if Bruce Campbell fans haven’t subscribed to Starz, they will be able to now!
Emanuele created a link to their subscription page. This is a work in progress and he is currently fixing glitches but at least fans can tour the site and look at the different features. Dino Lorenzo and I will be admins for this terrific adventure and I couldn’t be prouder to be involved.
