As production for the X Files rolls on after the fanfare of New York Comic Con, the buzz was clearly centered around the long-lost son of Mulder and Scully. William makes an appearance but David Duchovny hints that maybe his parentage is deceiving.

Don’t Judge a Book….

At New York Comic Con, big buzz about the X Files centered on the topic of Mulder and Scully’s son, William. The absent teenager makes a return with some shocking results. SYFY Wire spoke with series star, David Duchovny and he had some cryptic observations about his spawn and his true parentage.

In season ten, it was discovered that Scully was actually part alien. Fans of the show will recall when Gillian Anderson was out on maternity leave in season two, Scully was abducted. It was at that time that the Cigarette Smoking Man (William B. Davis) had her injected with alien DNA.

As a result, when she had her miracle pregnancy with William, he inherited her alien gene pool. This is probably why he exhibited psychokinetic powers when he moved the mobile in his room with his mind. According to Gillian Anderson, William “looks like a normal kid.”

Anticipation of William’s reveal is at an all-time high with dedicated X Philes who regularly speculate on what he might look like. Of course, showrunner Chris Carter and his cast have remained tight lipped about who is playing him. So, obviously his identity is a mystery.

In the trailer, you can catch a brief glimpse of him in a black hoodie but his face is strategically blurred. However, David Duchovny alluded that the actor who plays the character doesn’t resemble him or Anderson. “He resembles two people that aren’t Mulder and Scully.”

The Mating Game

Duchovny went on to say, “And when you read this back, after watching the episodes, you’ll figure this out.” Wow! That is a head spinner!  Everyone knows that Samantha, Mulder’s sister was abducted in the 70s.

Also, remember Alex Krycek (Nicholas Lea) was a victim of the black oil in the episode, Piper Maru. Now, indulge me if you will. What if William is the result of the mingling of Samantha and Krycek’s DNA? They used Samantha’s DNA before to clone her.

Obviously, this is pure speculation but it is food for thought. Even though Samantha is Mulder’s sister, with Krycek’s altered DNA, and depending on who William favored genetically, it is possible he wouldn’t resemble Mulder.

Season eleven definitely looks as if fans won’t be disappointed!
