Brothers in Arms

I used to hate the saying, “It takes a village.” Well, now, unfortunately, I understand the meaning behind it. For months, we here at 1428 Elm have been working diligently to save Bruce Campbell’s show, Ash vs Evil Dead.

Along the way, we have been fortunate that #bringbackboomstick has been picked up by Bloody Disgusting, Bruce on the Loose podcast featuring Dino Lorenzo and Abby Fagan, Charlie Mazal (the creator of the save AVED Change.org petition), the Bruce Campbell Fan Club, Emanuele Crivello of the Bring Back Boomstick Community on Facebook as well as bringbackboomstick.com.

All of these entities have participated and gone above and beyond with blitzing STARZ to let them know that the show has fans. They have been active in spreading the word. Now, Gary Buechler and Dennis Bithoulkas of the Nerdrotic Channel have jumped into the mix.

Back in September, the pair did a podcast on Ash vs Evil Dead being cancelled. Of course, my interest was piqued because I thought maybe word finally came down from the network. After listening, they were talking about Bruce Campbell mentioning at the Evil Dead 2 screening in the woods in Austin that he may have hung up his chainsaw for good.

Their latest podcast focuses on our article, Bruce Campbell: Pay for Ash vs Evil Dead or it will be cancelled! On this broadcast they break it down for illegal downloaders by not chastising them but telling them exactly what their actions are doing. In reality, they are killing the very thing that they profess to love.

31 Flavors of STARZ

The duo points out that there are other legal alternatives to STARZ by naming Sling TV and citing our article where we give those fans who are having trouble locating AVED outlets that carry the show. Not only is this extremely helpful but it may actually succeed in turning new fans onto the series.

They also point out that there are no excuses for not watching AVED legally if you are a fan. Since STARZ is a smaller platform than HBO, the show needs all the viewers it can get to drive the ratings numbers. Unfortunately, that is the only way to prove to the network that AVED is viable for a renewal.

Nerdrotic also points out that they are going to continue to speak out for Bruce Campbell, the Ghostbeaters and Ash vs Evil Dead in future podcasts. They will also support the effort by utilizing #bringbackboomstick.

We couldn’t be happier at 1428 Elm to have these two guys and their awesome podcast helping us out in our crusade to save this series. Welcome aboard! It is a bumpy ride but it sure is going to be an adventure!
