“Though they’re only a small part of the network decision-making process, the number of plays on a streaming service like Hulu can make a difference in a show’s fate.” – Vox

Can Netflix Help?

We all know the situation with Ash vs Evil Dead. Fans are still petitioning for a season 4 renewal of their beloved show. They have participated in social media blitzes to STARZ using the hashtag #BringBackBoomstick to show the network that they care about the series and that they have subscribed or launched their app.

With the addition to Netflix, this can recruit those fans of the horror genre and encourage them to view the show. Now, seasons 1 and 2 are available this gives everyone the opportunity to catch up before the season premiere on STARZ airs on February 25, 2018 at 9 p.m.

This can also help the series possibly gain numbers to be considered for renewal. How is that possible? According to Nielsen the industry ratings provider, they have launched a new way to measure subscription based streaming content.

Subscription Video on Demand (SVOD) Content Ratings will only provide ratings for Netflix shows. Lionsgate, STARZ parent company has signed up for this service. What does that mean? The potential for new viewers who wanted to check out the show but didn’t know where to find it.

With new fans coming to the party, the show’s ratings may pick up thus giving the network a reason to possibly renew AVED for season 4. Nielsen has this to say about their new system.

“With this enhancement, subscribing clients will now have a more comprehensive view of their content’s total audience regardless of where it was viewed—and the ability to follow the full lifecycle of a program from live to time-shifted viewing to set-top-box video on-demand and now SVOD.”

Price Listing for Netflix

Apparently, in the past, before SVOD was created a huge blind spot for networks was trying to determine consumer behavior. So now, Lionsgate will not have excuses about not being able to accurately track how many viewers AVED is pulling in.

The most important thing that fans will want to know is “how much will this set me back? I love Bruce Campbell and Ash Williams but I can’t afford to pay for it.” Check out the price list from Digital Trends.

Streaming

Netflix has three different plans when it comes to streaming: Basic, Standard, and Premium. Plans start at $8 and increase incrementally, bringing the Standard and Premium plans to $11 and $14, respectively. Below is a breakdown of what each plan entails, with the added features.

 DVD and Blu-ray

The folks at Netflix certainly pride themselves on their streaming platform (and for good reason), but that does not mean the service ditched discs altogether. The company still offers DVD and Blu-ray plans — none of which include streaming access — starting at $5 and going up from there. The monthly cost determines how many discs you can check out at a time, as well as how many you want per month.

Prove Lionsgate Wrong

Lionsgate believes that AVED doesn’t have a significant fan base. Bruce Campbell has remarked on this in the past. So now, that fan base can prove them wrong. How can you do it? Subscribe to Netflix. You can also take advantage of their DVD free trial.
