The Conjuring lawsuit reveals disturbing elements with the Warrens

After earning millions at the box-office, disturbing details are emerging about the lead characters in The Conjuring films. This will turn you pale.

Greetings, ghoulies.

There’s been a court battle with Warner Brothers studios and author Gerald Brittle over profits due to allegations that WB lifted elements from his book The Demonologist for The Conjuring. This may come to less than a shock for most of us after reading about their Annabelle short film contest. Needless to say, it’s getting pretty ugly with new disturbing elements about the Warrens being brought to light by the author.

Fans of The Conjuring franchise (which include myself) watched the heroic romanticized couple battle demons using their knowledge of the paranormal and exorcism practices. It’s almost similar to The X-Files. But, you know, based on true events.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, and much to disgust and disappointment, it’s being alleged that “top studio executives” were made aware weeks after the opening of the first film in 2013 that back in the 1960s – Ed Warren initiated a relationship with a 15-year old girl.

Judith Penny, now in her 70s, allegedly signed a declaration that she moved in with the Warrens and was Ed’s lover for four decades with Lorraine Warren’s knowledge. Warner Brothers has declined to comment on this matter and it’s unclear if they took any action after learning of these events. A lawyer for the studio is putting the blame on the author for attempting to ruin the Warren’s lives due to the pending lawsuit.

Gary Barkin, Lorraine Warren’s attorney, says the family has no knowledge of the allegations. Lorraine, now in her 90s, is unable to respond due to declining health.

This is very heartbreaking news, if true. Greg Newkirk (Planet Weird, Traveling Museum of the Paranormal and Occult”) was a huge fan of the Warrens and had this to say when a fan commented:

If a hardcore fan like Greg has been jaded by the Warrens, this could be devastating to not only more fans – but for the studio’s franchise. We will keep everyone updated as this pending lawsuit unfolds.
