2009’s Friday the 13th reboot poster feels more like the typical ones you’d see from other horror films at the time. Jason Voorhees, covered mostly in black, is seen in the woods holding a rather large machete. Its tagline about Crystal Lake gives a nod to the longtime fans, and the goal was to bring in all of them in addition to the new fans they wanted to buy tickets.

This poster doesn’t feel at all like any of the ones for the previous films. But because this is a reboot, after all, that’s probably for the best. This version of Jason as portrayed by Derek Mears still looks pretty scary standing there in the shadows. It’s a cool image, even for those who prefer the prior films in the franchise.
