So, You Think You’re a Trivia Expert

Collider’s Schmoedown is like a WWE royal rumble. Titans of trivia, experts from all forms of media regularly engage in a battle of wits to see who reigns supreme as the master of all things pop culture.

Yesterday, the show released an episode featuring Ash vs Evil Dead’s Dana DeLorenzo and Ray Santiago. Both actors were teamed with trivia gurus Witney Seibold and Jon Schnepp to answer various questions horror themed and otherwise.

The pièce de résistance was having Bruce Campbell join hosts Mark Reilly and Mark Ellis as a color commentator. Of course, whenever Campbell is involved you can almost be assured that something crazy is probably going to happen. Sure enough, it does!

Dana and Witney were playing as the Deadites while Ray and Jon were the Boomsticks. The premise of the contest is simple. There are three rounds. Whatever team ends up with the most points wins.

The third round, like with any other game show is the one worth the most points. What was beautiful about this whole challenge was Campbell’s commentary. Using his best host like voice, he would intonate the questions to the contestants.

The Birth of “Mr. Answer”

However, he slipped up and inadvertently gave the answers along with the questions. From there, Dana mercilessly busted his chops which was extremely funny. What made the entire account humorous was the obvious chemistry between the Ash vs Evil Dead co-stars and Bruce.

There was even a question about Bubba Ho-Tep which Bruce assured the Ghostbeaters that if they missed it, he would “personally punch them in the face.”

Ellis and Reilly even coined a nickname for Campbell of “Mr. Answer.” In addition to those hi-jinx, Dana also got Bruce to imitate Jack Nicholson. For those fans of his that weren’t aware of this fact, he is actually a very talented mimic and his impersonation was spot on.

After braving through several decades of movie related questions from the 70s through the present, one team emerged victorious. I won’t drop any spoilers because this event is too good to miss. Check out the video:

Schmoedown was definitely an excellent promotional opportunity to get fans pumped and psyched for Ash vs Evil Dead’s Season 3 debut on February 25 at 9 p.m. on STARZ.
