“Never get between a Papa Bear and his cub.” – Ashley J. Williams
The following Ash vs Season 3 review reflects the first five episodes, as provided by STARZ. So enjoy ya screwheads. And oh, NO SPOILERS HERE!
Now, It’s Dark
When we last left Ash Williams (Bruce Campbell) and the Ghostbeaters (Dana DeLorenzo and Ray Santiago) life was great. Evil was vanquished and Ash was crowned the King of Elk Grove. Things were looking good, looking sweet!
Segue to the present. Our chainsaw handed hero is reaping the riches of his newfound celebrity status. Pablo’s dreams have come true and everything appears blissful. However, lurking in the shadows is an old nemesis.
Ash’s brave new world is about to come crashing down in a monumentally horrible fashion. But then that’s what we expect from the universe of the Evil Dead, right? I am here to tell you, if you are one of those fans who’s rabidly meticulous about canons and timelines, then you might as well get prepared.
Sit down, shut up and enjoy this ride because baby, right from the get go, the show hits the ground running. This season feels epic like a movie right down to the fabulous Joseph LoDuca score. It is dark and brooding in scope. Every frame draws you deeper and deeper into the Deadite world.
For those viewers who tune in for the gore quotient, you will not be disappointed. There are several hardcore fight sequences that result in unique and creative demises. Trust me, they will make you squirm and laugh at the same time.

One of the most essential elements in the Ash vs Evil Dead arsenal is the incredible ability to gross out their fans in hilarious ways. Last season had The Morgue, where Ash literally went up the butt of a cadaver.
This year, there will be one segment in particular that will leave everyone with their mouths wide open. Let’s just paint this picture. Ash, alone time and a special publication.
You will have to see it to believe it. I know whenever I hear the song Take on Me by A-ha I now have a very “special” memory that pops into my head.

Season 3 is about heroes. Ash and each of his compadres have their own exceptional quests that they must undertake. For all of them must go down paths of self discovery.
Ash, Kelly and Pablo have challenges that will make or break them. With the introduction of two new characters, Ash’s daughter, Brandy (Arielle Carver-O’Neill) and Knight of Sumeria, Dalton (Lindsay Farris) the dynamics of the group are already off kilter. Will Ash and the Ghostbeaters overcome their obstacles and rise to the occasion or will they fail in epic ways?
All of the stars of the show have said that nothing will be the same in the Ash vs Evil Dead world after this year. I don’t know what that will entail but I can tell fans this. You will care more about these characters than ever before.
Ash Williams and the Ghostbeaters are part of a timeless legacy. No matter what the outcome whether the show ends or is renewed by STARZ, the actors, the writers, the directors and the production staff have created a memorable season that won’t easily be forgotten.
