The Next Generation
Well, this week has been a whirlwind of activity for Evil Dead fans. First, Rob Tapert confirms that he and Sam Raimi are discussing the future of the franchise. Then Bruce Campbell gives his blessing on Twitter for the next generation to continue stating that there are “lots of unexplored stories and crossovers in the ED universe.”
Of course, the internet went crazy with speculations and media outlets jumped on the bandwagon. However, prior to Campbell’s tweet, Ray Santiago stated numerous times in interviews after the cancellation of Ash vs Evil Dead that Bruce had already given them the green light to pursue opportunities within the franchise if they presented themselves.
At 1428 Elm, I receive quite a few questions from Campbell fans on a variety of subjects. One of the most popular topics that keeps coming up is the possibility of a new Evil Dead game. There were even petitions and a Crowdfunding project to start this effort.
So, I decided to go straight to the source and ask him if he would be open to doing motion capture and voice work on a game. The answer I received was pretty interesting.
Give It Time
I don’t know what these incarnations are or what they will be but fans can rest assured that something will be coming their way. However, they need to remember that efforts like this are a process and may not be immediate. Also, he isn’t saying that he is going to be playing Ash Williams again either.
Until then, they can relive Ash vs Evil Dead Season 3 on digital. The DVD and Blu-Ray versions will be available on August 21. For fans of Bruce, if you live in the Sacramento, California area you can see him at Fandemic June 22 through June 23.
In August, he will be appearing at HorrorHound Weekend in Indianapolis from August 24 through August 25. For the month of September, from the 14th through the 15th he is in Houston, Texas for the Fandemic event there and then on the 21st, he will be in Berkeley, California for Last Fan Standing.
What are you hoping to see from the Evil Dead Universe? Feel free to share your thoughts in the comment section below. We want to hear from you.
