With the copyright lawsuit falling in Victor Miller’s favor, the writer is revealing his plans with Friday the 13th going forward. Let’s head to camp…

The future of Friday the 13th may be uncertain but one man is ready to play ball with Jason Voorhees…

Thanks to Bloody-Disgusting, we’re getting good news for fans worried about Camp Crystal Lake closing for good. Sitting down with YouTuber IAnthonyD, Victor Miller is opening up about what’s next for him after winning the already infamous Friday the 13th lawsuit. With campers wondering when their hockey-masked hero will return, the writer apparently really just wants what we do.

Here’s what Miller is saying about the popular franchise going forward, which he helped start scripting the iconic original:

"“Everybody’s trying to settle all the little things and dot the I’s get the semicolons where they belong and all that kind of stuff. Who gets what. Who has to give what to whom. So, to me, it’s a nightmare,” Miller spoke openly about what’s going on right now. “If you’ve got two sides across the table… this is poker. And you don’t get to say, ‘Well I’ll take half the money and you take half the money.’ That’s not how it works. I can’t be more specific than that. It has to be done by people who do this for a living. I don’t know how that plays.Eventually, I will have to approve something. I’m just sitting here saying, ‘Hey look. I got the copyright for the first one. Let’s talk.’ And these people have been dining out for thirty years. They don’t want to part with a cent. I would love to be more involved [in future Friday the 13th films]. So who knows. Maybe I will, maybe I won’t. I can’t think of anybody better. I am not dragging my feet.”"

More from Friday the 13th

Taking advantage of a protective copyright clause, Miller recently beat Horror Inc. and Sean Cunningham for the rights to the original film. With that now in his possession, the writer must be involved with anything related to the franchise in the US going forward. And as the incredible Larry Zerner pointed out, no studio is pulling the trigger if the movie isn’t coming out worldwide. So Miller’s in a good spot, he just wants his money. With Crystal Lake making a killing for almost four decades, do you really blame him?

We’re still far away from a new Friday the 13th but this is enough to start packing those sleeping bags. With everyone wanting to bring back the series, including NBA icon LeBron James, it’s only a matter of time before blood spills from the machete once more.
