Fox Consumer Products and the American Red Cross are coming together to present a very special blood drive on March 10 for Buffy Slay Day 2019.

Buffy the Vampire Slayer, created by Joss Whedon, ran for seven seasons, and has maintained popularity, despite ending its run in 2003. If you’re a fan of the series, Licensing Source is reporting bloody good things…

Why is March 10 significant? I’m glad you asked! On March 10, 1997, the iconic show had its series premiere on The WB. In celebration, Fox and the American Red Cross are holding nationwide blood drives, giving exclusive goodies to donors at participating locations, and debuting Buffy-inspired merchandise from multiple licensees.

Buffy Slay Day kicks off at American Red Cross’s Torrance, CA donation center (which just happens to be a short distance from Torrance High School, location of fictional “Sunnydale High.”) Additional blood drives will be held in Atlanta, Charlotte, New York and Nashville. If you want to participate, but aren’t close to any of these locations, you can still sign up to donate.

Quirk Books recently released the Pop Classic picture book Buffy the Vampire Slayer, tells the Buffy story via children’s book-style illustrations. Haven’t you always wondered what the Slayer was like as a child?

Eva Steortz, SVP of Global Brand, 20th Century Fox Consumer products said:

"“Buffy Slay Day is more than just a chance to commemorate the incredible pop culture phenomenon ‘Buffy the Vampire Slayer’. It’s an annual opportunity for fans to demonstrate their own courage, pride, power and inner slayer – a day for all of us to fearlessly show the world we’re here to slay. Based on the overwhelming impact this content has had on fans, we are confident this celebration of empowerment is here to stay.”"

So, what do you think, Buffy enthusiasts? I don’t love needles or sacrificing my blood, but Buffy Slay Day sounds a lot better than a sharp stake in the heart!
