Famed clairvoyant Lorraine Warren passes away at the age of 92
By Mads Lennon
Lorraine Warren, half of one of America’s most famous paranormal investigative team, has sadly passed away at the age of 92.
If you’re a horror junkie and a fan of The Conjuring, then odds are you have heard of Ed and Lorraine Warren. Since the 1950’s, the couple has prided themselves on paranormal investigations, many of which went on to become infamous with many books, television series and films (like the aforementioned Conjuring franchise) being created from their legendary stories.
Together, the Warrens founded the New England Society for Psychic Research and established a museum of the occult in their home in Connecticut, though it was eventually relocated to Rhode Island. The museum hasn’t been running lately and with Lorraine Warren’s passing, it’s hard to say if it will be re-opened but it does house the iconic Annabelle doll among numerous other supposedly cursed artifacts.

Regardless of any personal feelings one might have towards the Warrens, who have earned their fair share of skepticism over the years, it’s undeniable that Lorraine Warren was a profoundly intelligent and motivated woman. Lorraine was a professed clairvoyant and was said to use her abilities as a medium in numerous of her cases.
As a native-born Rhode Islander, I was always proud to be from the same area as the Warrens and even visited the original Perron family home (the haunting that The Conjuring was based on) and even Bathsheba’s grave in Harrisville, Rhode Island.
Apart from the Annabelle doll and Perron family haunting, Ed and Lorraine Warren were among the first investigators on the infamous Amityville haunting case. In 1981, they assisted in the first ever legal case where a defendant attempted to use the excuse “the devil made me do it”. Their legacy in the paranormal community is undeniable.
Vera Farmiga, who plays Lorraine Warren’s fictional counterpart in The Conjuring franchise, took to Twitter to express some lovely sentiments about Lorraine’s passing:
Patrick Wilson, who plays Ed Warren in the franchise, also shared a loving message of support in lieu of the tragedy:
Lorraine Warren passed at the age of 92. Her husband, Ed, passed away in 2006. Rest assured, the Warren name will live on for years to come in the horror community and for many who were avid believers in the spiritual realm.
Here’s to the next generation the Warrens have inspired and may they both rest in peace together.
The Conjuring franchise will live on in respect to Ed and Lorraine Warren. The third Annabelle film is due for release June 28th of this year and The Conjuring 3 will follow in the fall of 2020.
