John Carpenter: Aging master ready to jump back into director’s chair
By Joey Click
Having not made a feature in almost a decade, iconic filmmaker John Carpenter is revealing he’s not opposed to getting back into the director’s chair. And action…
John Carpenter is ready to return to the land of filmmaking…
According to Collider, one of film’s greatest minds isn’t done with the medium. Sitting down with the popular site, the legendary director of Halloween and The Thing revealed being burned out by the business in the past but has a desire to return to the career that made him an icon. If Carpenter does make a film, it’ll be his first in almost 10 years. His last, The Ward, was released in 2010 from XLrator Media.
Here’s what Carpenter, who’s been enjoying a recent stint as musician/composer for hire, is saying about making another movie:
"“I don’t have one scheduled but I’m working on things. I made a lot of movies and I got burned out and I had to stop for a while. I have to have a life. Circumstance would have to be correct for me to do it again. I’d love to make a little horror film that would be great or a big adventure film. It would be a project that I like that’s budgeted correctly. Nowadays they make these young directors do movie for $2 million when the movie is written for $10 million. So you have to squeeze it all in there and I don’t want to do that any more.”"

Carpenter say the word and 1428 Elm will gladly get a Kickstater going…
One of the most prolific filmmakers in history, the time is perfect for USC grad to return to horror. With the genre increasing more mainstream with every hit, fear fans are ready for more Carpenter. Over fifteen features to his name, the Big Trouble in Little China helmer is arguably the great filmmaker to ever live. So it’s hard not to be excited for a possible return to the medium.
While there’s a huge chance this will never come to pass (Carpenter loves retirement…video games and basketball won’t play and watch themselves), this is exciting for fans. If a project does move forward, 1428 Elm will have the details.
