Ahead of its series debut, DC has released new photos from the pilot episode of Swamp Thing. Get a glimpse of Andy Bean as Alec Holland right here.
In just over a week the new DC Universe horror series, Swamp Thing, will make its debut on the streaming service. Ahead of its premiere, Warner Brothers has released exclusive new photos from the pilot episode.
Not too long ago, we got our first glimpse at Swamp Thing, and it appears DC is taking a more practical approach to the monster. He was briefly in the teaser and trailer for the show, but now we have a full-sized, HD photo that showcases the costume design in all its glory.

Anticipation for Swamp Thing has been high due to its pedigree, renowned horror director, James Wan is producing the series which stars Crystal Reed of Teen Wolf fame as Abby Arcane. Abby returns to her home in Louisiana to investigate a swamp-borne illness ravaging the town.
Swamp Thing will primarily focus on the origins of the creature and Alec Holland in addition to featuring acclaimed actresses like Virginia Madsen and Jennifer Beals in leading roles.
The newly released images introduce us to the characters and world of Swamp Thing. First is a photo of Andy Bean, who will be playing the titular character, Alec Holland aka Swamp Thing.

In the comics, Alec and his wife create a Bio-Restorative formula to try and aide the starvation crisis, but an attack at his lab caused a horrific accident that left Alec coated in the formula and left to retreat into a nearby swamp. Holland morphed into an elemental plant/human hybrid.
In some incarnations, he is depicted as a monster or a villain, and in others, he is a hero or anti-hero. Given the horror tone of this new series, I imagine he’ll be a potential mixture of hero and villain.
The following photo shows Andy Bean again and Crystal Reed as Abby Arcane. It appears the series will be similar to the comics in the relationship between Abby and Alec. And in this photo, we can see Abby beginning her investigation into the swamp illness infecting people in town.

Crystal Reed is pictured again in a boat, I believe, likely investigating the swamp.

This is one of my favorite photos of the bunch and is a continuation of the above picture. Presented in a wide-shot we can see Abby (in the same shirt as above) in the boat as she navigates the swamp lands of Louisiana. I love the creepy atmosphere depicted here.

Finally, here is a full-length photo of Swamp Thing. I wonder if this photo is meant to be in the same scene as above, meaning Abby comes face-to-face with him early on. It also leaves me to wonder if Alec is able to shift back and forth from the creature to his normal self or if Swamp Thing is perhaps a separate entity. Regardless, the costume looks amazing.

In addition to the photos, DC also released this mini-origin clip. Avoid this if you don’t want any spoilers about Alec’s evolution into becoming the guardian of the Green.
That’s all for now, but thankfully, we don’t have long to wait before Swamp Thing officially becomes available for us to stream! The first episode will be available on May 31st on the DC Universe app. If you’re not already signed up then make sure you do so soon!
