Aquaman star, Michael Beach, has been cast in a heavily recurring role on the upcoming DC Universe horror series, Swamp Thing.

Michael Beach has been on a hot streak this past year with roles in films like Aquaman and If Beale Street Could Talk. In both films, he played the father to a lead character. On television, he’s recently starred in a recurring capacity on ABC’s For the People and The Rookie, in addition to the CBS’s series, S.W.A.T.

Now Deadline reports that Beach will return to the DC universe with a villainous recurring role on the upcoming DC Universe series, Swamp Thing. He will play Nathan Ellery, who, in the comics, was the leader of a criminal organization known as Conclave.

He also ordered the death of Alec Holland and thus inadvertently served as the trigger for Swamp Thing being born in the first place. In the series, Ellery will play a cruel businessman. We don’t have many details beyond that but I wonder if he might somehow benefit from whatever illness is being spread from the swamp.

Given his status as a villain, we can deduce Ellery will come face-to-face with both Abby Arcane and Alec Holland at one point or another. Since he isn’t a series regular, I don’t believe he’ll be the main villain but in a horror show like this one, I wouldn’t be surprised if there were multiple antagonists.

Beyond Swamp Thing, Michael Beach has several other projects lined up such as an Apple TV show where he will star alongside Octavia Spencer (who you can catch this weekend in the psychological thriller, Ma).
