Does Jensen Ackles think Supernatural can be revived in the future?
Jensen Ackles had an interesting response to a reporter’s question at the Television Critics Association press tour yesterday. Supernatural may be ending its record run in 2020 but could the show be revived in the future?
Jensen Ackles, Jared Padalecki and Misha Collins are familiar faces. For fans of Supernatural, the Winchesters and Castiel are family. After all, the show has lasted for 15 years and that is a testament to the writing and the creativity of Eric Kripke.
However, when it was announced that the beloved series would be ending its run, there was a collective sadness in the air. After all, viewers had gone through everything with Sam and Dean. The ties run so deep that Supernatural even has its own convention.
It is obvious why everyone would still be in denial about the show coming to a close. Yesterday at the TCA press tour, a reporter had a very interesting question for the principles of the series. According to TV Line, Jensen Ackles was discussing the fact that Supernatural was just going to “go away for a while.”
That ambiguous response drew the inevitable query about the show being revived for a limited series or a one-off movie on a streaming service. Ackles had quite a bit to say on the topic.
"“I’m not ever ready to close doors or burn bridges, I think that’s foolish. Am I saying there’s something in the works? No. Am I open to having a conversation in the future? What’s the harm in that?”"
Will this happen immediately if at all? Probably not right away. I am thinking that a reunion movie might be the way to go perhaps a few years down the line. Depending upon how the season ends, it would be good to catch up with the characters again and the circumstances they might find themselves in.
At least, there is interest to revisit if the opportunity presents itself. The final season of Supernatural starts Oct. 10 on the CW.
