Impulse star Maddie Hasson joins James Wan’s new movie
James Wan’s new horror movie might not have a title yet, but it does have a couple of names in its cast already, the latest one being Maddie Hasson.
James Wan is the man who gave us the Saw franchise (along with Leigh Whannell), Insidious, and The Conjuring. He also directed some non-horror projects that were big hits, such as Furious 7 and most recently DC’s Aquaman. Now, he’s coming back to his horror roots with a mysterious project that is still building its cast, and the latest addition is Maddie Hasson.
Not much is known about Wan’s upcoming movie, only a few bits about production and the route he will be taking with it. The movie is being financed by Starlight Media and Midas Innovation, which is also distributing in China, with New Line in charge of the rest of the world.
Wan is going back to his indie horror roots with this movie (which working title is currently Silvercup), and already has Annabelle Wallis, Jake Abel and George Young on board.

According to Deadline, Maddie Hasson has joined Silvercup in a key role. Hasson is best known for her role in Doug Liman’s Impulse, a spin-off “sequel” to his 2008 film Jumper. Hasson plays Henrietta “Henry” Coles, a teenage girl with the ability to teleport who struggles not only with the implications of having this “jumping” skill but also with the assault she went through and that triggered her teleporting.
On the big screen, Hasson has had roles in the black comedy thriller God Bless America, the football sports drama Underdogs, Marc Abraham’s I Saw The Light, and most recently in the dram film Novitiate. On TV, she had a main role in the Bones spin-off series The Finder, the teen drama Twisted, and appeared in a few episodes of Mr. Mercedes.
Again, there are no more details on Silvercup, but the movie will start shooting in Los Angeles at the end of September, so, if we’re lucky, we should be getting more details soon – like, actual plot details. Or at least a bit more information on the characters.
Hasson is playing a “key role” so could this mean she’s going to be our protagonist running away from danger? Or is she the danger?
Silvercup doesn’t have a projected release date yet, but one of James Wan’s upcoming projects, The Conjuring 3, is set for a September 11, 2020 release.
