Ghostbusters 2020 is one of the most anticipated films of next year. At Universal Studios Halloween Horror Nights, Dan Aykroyd and Ivan Reitman dropped some clues as to what the super secretive storyline is about.
Ghostbusters 2020 is on everyone’s radar. This franchise has a staunchly dedicated fanbase that has been waiting for a proper sequel for quite some time. Now, their wish has been granted.
In addition to the old familiar faces like Dan Aykroyd (who will be returning as Dr. Ray Stantz), Sigourney Weaver, Annie Potts and Ernie Hudson, (who recently confirmed that he will be reprising Winston Zeddmore) some new blood will be infused into the latest incarnation in the form of Paul Rudd, Finn Wolfhard, Carrie Coon and Mckenna Grace. Rudd made a huge splash a couple of months ago by taking to the internet to announce his involvement in the film.
A couple of days ago, ET Onliine caught up with Aykroyd and producer Ivan Reitman at Universal Studio’s Halloween Horror Nights Ghostbusters maze. The two veterans dropped some tidbits of information about what lovers of the franchise can expect in the upcoming production.
According to Dan, there will be a passing of the torch. Its time for the next generation to take the business of busting ghosts and run with it. As for Reitman, he explained exactly how newcomer Paul Rudd will fit into the storyline.

Apparently, he is a seismologist who is assigned to the small town where Finn Wolfhard, Carrie Coon and Mckenna Grace live because some mysterious earthquakes have been occurring. He will also be teaching summer school.
It is interesting what we can infer from those nuggets of info. Obviously, the characters that Wolfhard, Grace and Coon play will be picking up the ghostbusting mantle. Now, this is just a theory but It might be possible that somehow or other they are related to the late, great, Harold Ramis’ character of Egon Spengler.
After all, the Instagram photo that director Jason Reitman posted two months ago makes it seem plausible that Finn and Mckenna could be Spenglers. They do resemble him to an extent.
Maybe the earthquakes that are occurring will open up a portal allowing deadly spirits to escape. Somehow, Paul Rudd might join forces with the kids to fight the evil.
All of this is speculation but one thing is for certain, on July 10, 2020, we will definitely find out who we’re gonna call!
