With Halloween not yet in our rearview mirror, we are already talking about Christmas with the announcement of Joe Bob’s Red Christmas triple feature.

With Joe Bob’s Halloween Hootenanny barely over, I can’t believe that we are already thinking about Christmas and yet, here we are. Normally, for anything having to do with Christmas, I would give it a grimace and a hearty, “Bah, humbug,” but this is Joe Bob that we’re talking about.  It was announced that Halloween wasn’t the only mini marathon we would be getting from our favorite redneck commentator.

Hold on to your jingle bells because Joe Bob’s Red Christmas is headed to a Shudder feed near you.

According to the press release, Joe Bob’s Red Christmas is a triple horror feature set to stream on Friday, December 13th at 9 PM/ET or 6 PM/PT in the United States and Canada on Shudder. This is what Joe Bob had to say about the holiday horror mini-marathon:

More from Shudder

"“Every Christmas we try to get that perfect mix of movies the whole family can watch, plus movies that will cause every family member except dedicated horror fiends to run screaming from the room. That’s because we realize that Christmas celebrations can go either way.We think we’ve achieved that balance with Joe Bob’s Red Christmas, combining the cult, the classic and the bizarre in a holiday stew designed to keep you reaching for the eggnog or equivalent, and to keep Aunt Shirley complaining about your choices. In between the films we have holiday hijinks that are frankly embarrassing, because that’s also what Americans do on Christmas.”"

After the film choices of last Christmas’s horror movie marathon, I wonder what Joe Bob and Darcy will show for the 2019 holiday season.

Phantasm just didn’t quite get me in the holiday spirit. After the very surprising choices offered for the Halloween Hootenanny (although I shouldn’t be surprised they chose Halloween, I am still extremely surprised), I am really excited to watch their choices. Based on what Joe Bob said, there will be a little something for everyone.

Based on that information, I am willing to bet we may get a Gremlins film, which will make some people extremely happy. Maybe we’ll see Jack Frost or Black Christmas or (please, let it be so) Silent Night Deadly Night Part II.

No matter what movies they choose, you can count on horror fans from near and far will gather together around a crackling Yule log and watch Joe Bob’s Red Christmas. If it seems far away, don’t worry. It will be here faster than Darcy can change into a homicidal Santa suit and shout, “GARBAGE DAY!!”
