Shrine

Shrine has been in the news recently with Jeffrey Dean Morgan and Jordana Brewster joining the cast. Even though this project is in pre-production, the buzz is pretty huge. Evan Spiliotopoulos is set to direct this adaptation of James Herbert’s 1983 horror novel.

For those of you unfamiliar with the book, the story centers around a deaf and mute girl named Alice Pagett who is miraculously cured when she runs into a tree at her local parish. Suddenly, she becomes the focus of speculation on whether or not her being healed of her afflictions was an act of God or something more malevolently intentioned.

Morgan will play Gerry Fenn, a disgraced journalist who hopes to redeem his reputation by getting to the truth of the strange event surrounding Alice. It is unclear as to who Jordana Brewster will be portraying.

Fans of JDM will remember that Sam Raimi and Ghost House were behind his 2012 film, The Possession which centered around a girl who gets taken over by an ancient spirit inside a Dybbuk box that her father bought her.

Since Shrine is still in the process of casting, it is hard to say when this effort will make it to the silver screen. For fans of The Walking Dead, Evil Dead and Fast and Furious this is definitely a must-see work.
