The CBS crime drama, Clarice — a spin-off of the iconic film The Silence of the Lambs, has found its leading lady. Find out who will play Clarice Starling.

We recently reported that CBS was in the process of ordering a Silence of the Lambs spin-off set to focus on Clarice Starling aptly titled Clarice. Now we know who will star in that iconic role originated by actress Jodie Foster.

According to TVLine, Rebecca Breeds has been tapped to play the role. She’s a relative unknown to most,  but if you happened to watch The Originals, then you will recognize her as Aurora de Martel. She also had a recurring role on Pretty Little Liars as Nicole Gordon and has appeared in other projects such as Three Summers and Slam.

Breeds is an Australian actress who got her start on popular Australian shows like Blue Water High and the long-running soap opera, Home and Away.

The actress took to her Instagram to announce the news and seems to be genuinely excited about the opportunity.

The show will take place a few years after The Silence of the Lambs took place. The show will follow Clarice’s journey as she returns to work and tries to stop murderers and psychopaths while dealing with Washington D.C. politics.

It is not yet ordered to series and is currently on in the pilot phase, but CBS seems to want the show to happen, so don’t be surprised if it winds up nabbing a pick-up later this year.

According to the show’s executive producer, Alex Kurtzman, this version of Clarice will be in her 20s and driven to succeed at her job due to dark family secrets.
