Dracula’s Brides: Who will Gina Torres play in The Brides pilot?

ABC is moving forward on The Brides pilot by announcing several new cast members. Who will accomplished actress Gina Torres play on the show?
As 1428 Elm previously reported, ABC is currently at work on a sexy contemporary reimagining of the classic Dracula story. This time, the network will focus on Dracula’s infamous brides in a series aptly titled The Brides.
According to TVLine, acclaimed actress Gina Torres — who most know best from her work on the long-running legal drama, Suits — has landed the lead role. She will portray the character of Cleo Philipps, who believes herself to be a queen.
It turns out, Cleo was a queen in a past life, until Dracula eventually turned her. Now she works as a real estate mogul in New York. Per the article, a mysterious stranger will enter her life and stir up trouble. It also states that the relationship between the sisters is complicated at best.

A newer article from TVLine announced the casting of additional key players in The Brides pilot, which will be penned by Riverdale‘s showrunner Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa. New Additions to the cast include Katherine Reis, Chris Mason, and Sophia Tatum.
Stevens’ character is an aspiring singer who once survived the terror of Jack the Ripper in London before being rescued by Dracula. Mason will be an antagonistic presence directly related to Cleo’s storyline, particularly in the world of real estate. He has a personal vendetta against Dracula and seeks to destroy the Brides.
Finally, Stevens will portray an aspiring model Justine Strang, who crosses paths with Dracula’s other bride, Renée Pélagie — a modeling agent. It doesn’t look like Renée’s casting has been announced yet.
Torres is obviously the main draw right now. She has a devoted fanbase thanks to her time on Suits, and the many cult-favorite sci-fi shows she starred on before it — such as Firefly. It’ll be interesting to see who they cast as the final bride and Dracula himself.
