The Postcard Killings: Jeffrey Dean Morgan hunts a serial killer
The Postcard Killings follows Jeffrey Dean Morgan as a NY Detective who is racing against time to find a serial killer in Europe before another murder occurs.
The Postcard Killings is the latest James Patterson adaptation to make it to the silver screen. Co-written by Liza Marklund, the 2010 bestseller is now a major release with RLJE Films. This thriller stars Jeffrey Dean Morgan and Famke Janssen as Jacob and Valerie Kanon, a couple who have experienced a traumatic loss of their daughter and son-in-law at the hands of a serial killer.
When Jacob (who is a NY detective) travels to London to get answers about his daughter’s demise, he discovers that there have been other murders with a similar modus operandi of the victims being posed like famous paintings or sculptures. Now, he becomes involved in a race against time to make sure that more lives aren’t needlessly taken.
Kanon joins forces with Dessie (Cush Jumbo) who is a reporter investigating the crimes and the two attempt to put a stop to the killings. The only clues that they have to go on are the mysterious postcards that get sent to journalists with the messages, “Love will never die,” “Til death do us part” and “Watch the innocent die.”
For those that are fans of true crime, this may be a film to watch. It will remind you of Se7en with the 7 sins being replaced by the kills being modeled after well-known artistic masterpieces. There is also an element of Zodiac and From Hell with the eerie messages being left for law enforcement.
If you enjoy Jeffrey Dean Morgan as Negan on The Walking Dead, this effort gives him the chance to showcase his range as an actor. True Blood fans, keep your eyes peeled for a brief appearance by Denis O’Hare, (Russell Edgington).
