Joe Hill’s Locke & Key locked in for Season 2 by Netflix
Locke & Key has been renewed by Netflix. Fans get ready for Season 2…
Joe Hill’s Locke & Key has been a fan favorite since it was released on Netflix in February. So, fans who have been wanting to know what lies ahead for the Locke family can breathe a sigh of relief.
Deadline reported this past week that Netflix had given the green light to the supernatural thriller for a second season. The announcement was made via social media. Co-showrunners Carlton Cuse and Meredith Averill had this to say:
"“We are grateful to Netflix for all their support, especially at this difficult time, and look forward to bringing you the exciting next chapter of our story.”"
It has been a long road for the hit IDW comic series to bring it to the big or small screen. Over the last decade, Locke & Key was in a constant state of development or production. From Fox’s failed TV series run in 2011, to the proposed Dreamworks’ film franchise that had Alex Kurtzman and Robert Orci of Star Trek fame attached to it.
To see this series in the hands of Cuse and Averill, and being adapted for television by its creator, Joe Hill, has to be a pleasant experience for fans. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the creative team had been busy working on the second season’s scripts before the renewal announcement was made.
The Netflix series stars Frances O’Connor, Darby Stanchfield, Jackson Robert Scott, Laysla De Oliveira, Connor Jessup and Emilia Jones. It has done fairly well with critics on Rotten Tomatoes, with a critics score of 66%.
However, it has performed extremely well with viewers, coming in at an average score of 70%. If handled correctly, we could see Locke & Key‘s ratings soar even higher in the coming season.
