Robert Englund channels Freddy in “Wear a Glove” COVID-19 PSA
Robert Englund channels Freddy Krueger to remind his fans to “Wear a Glove” in an amusing COVID-19 PSA.
Robert Englund, star of Travel Channel’s True Terror took to social media yesterday to remind his fans that the nightmare of COVID-19 will end. The actor has joined the ranks of other celebrities including fellow horror icon, Bruce Campbell, who have tried to interject humor into their different platforms to create a diversion for their followers.
This PSA is part of Discovery Communications #WeAreNotAlone campaign which also features Oprah Winfrey, Guy Fieri and Mike Rowe. On Twitter, Englund encouraged everyone to “Be safe, stay at home and if you have to go to the store, don’t forget to wear your glove!” Of course, the last part was pure Freddy Krueger.
Food Network, which is a sister channel to Englund’s current home, is gearing up for several special programs this weekend dealing with how to cook quick and easy meals while quarantined. The Science Channel ran an informative documentary on the virus and even TLC’s hit show, 90 Day Fiancé features cast members in self-isolation.
Devotees of A Nightmare on Elm Street will be able to hunker down while “sheltering in place” this weekend to watch a marathon of True Terror on Travel Channel. The series has Englund hosting various tales of the bizarre and unusual ripped from 19th century newspaper headlines.
His Rod Serling like narration is extremely effective when discussing such fascinating subjects as Teddy Roosevelt’s Sasquatch encounter, the ax murderer of New Orleans, and an obsessed radiologist who lives with the mummified corpse of his beloved.
Don’t miss the True Terror with Robert Englund marathon on Travel Channel Saturday starting at 7 a.m.
