Dan Aykroyd will host a new television series for Travel Channel. Are you ready to check into Hotel Paranormal?

Dan Aykroyd does it all: acting, writing, directing, comedy and singing. Most people know that he came to prominence as one of the Not Ready for Prime Time Players on Saturday Night Live in the 1970’s. Success on the small screen propelled him onto the silver screen as one of the stars of The Blues Brothers, 1941, Trading Places, Twilight Zone: The Movie, Spies Like Us and many other productions.

Perhaps he is best known for playing the lovable gearhead and paranormal researcher, Dr. Ray Stantz in the Ghostbusters franchise. Fans of the actor know that in real life, he is fascinated with the supernatural. Probably because he comes from a long line of spiritualists and researchers.

His father, Peter and his great-grandfather, Samuel used to hold seances in his boyhood home in Ontario. As a result of these sessions, Peter wrote a book entitled, “A History of Ghosts.” Aykroyd is also a believer in extraterrestrials and is the star of a rather controversial documentary, Dan Aykroyd Unplugged on UFOs.

So, it should come as no surprise that Travel Channel has tapped him to be the host of a new series, Hotel Paranormal. This show tells the true stories of people who have come into contact with otherworldly entities in various lodgings. Of course, there will be dramatic re-enactments of the situations.

In the first episode, a salesman checks into a motel where he encounters paranormal activity. He documents the events on his phone. They are so terrifying that he exits the motel and discovers that he is possessed by a killer and is now needing divine intervention.

Another segment explores what happens when a group of students visits the Vatican and unlocks an ancient evil. Finally, a journalist visits a historic inn in New England only to become the target of a supernatural attack.

Next. The Hunger, It Follows and other sexy horror movies. dark

You can catch Dan Aykroyd on Hotel Paranormal when it premieres on Saturday, July 11 at 10 p.m. on Travel Channel.
