The New Mutants will finally be released on Aug. 28. However, you can catch their panel at Comic-Con@Home on July 23.

The New Mutants movie has been through multiple release date changes since their first trailer premiered at CinemaCon way back in 2017. Since then, fans of the Marvel comic book series had to contend with those scheduling changes and the uncertainty of when they would see their favorite characters come to life on the silver screen.

However, Deadline confirmed that the picture will see the light of day on Aug. 28. In other good news, the cast and writer/director Josh Boone will be appearing at Comic-Con@Home on July 23, at 2 p.m. PT. The panel will feature stars: Maisie Williams (Wolfsbane), Anya Taylor-Joy (Magik), Charlie Heaton (Cannonball), Alice Braga (Dr. Cecilia Reyes), Blu Hunt (Mirage) and Henry Zaga (Sunspot).

As if that weren’t enough to get followers excited, Marvel and 20th Century Studios dropped a special clip of the film in preparation for the upcoming event. What can audiences expect from The New Mutants?

Well, if you are into horror and superheroes, Boone’s production will not leave you disappointed. You can clearly see the creepy factor at the beginning of the clip when the Mutants are isolated in a facility. How apropos is that scenario considering the COVID-19 situation?

We learn that they are being held for psychiatric evaluation. More than likely because they aren’t like other teenagers. Fans of A Nightmare on Elm Street will quickly draw parallels to Dream Warriors.

There is also a hint of James Wan’s Saw franchise in there as well. The idea of people trapped in a location and having to use extreme measures to escape is prevalent in the clip.

Also, their “monitoring” entails tapping into their deepest and darkest fears to see how they will react. It would appear that whoever is watching them is trying to trigger their special abilities. All of this is being done under the guise of them being “dangerous,” of course.

Once they establish what is going on and they figure out that there is some sort of force field holding them in, that is when their powers start to manifest. Every character gets to showcase their particular ability and the effects look to be top notch.
