SDCC 2020: The Bill & Ted trailer is most excellent, dudes
Bill & Ted are the heroes we need right now. A new trailer for their latest adventure and a Comic-Con panel on the horizon is most excellent news, indeed.
Since their auspicious debut over 30 years ago – whoa – William “Bill” S. Preston Esq. (Alex Winter) and Theodore “Ted” Logan (Keanu Reeves) have assumed god-like stature as pop-culture icons. The success of Bill & Ted’s Excellent Adventure in 1989 gave rise to their Bogus Journey two years later, but the lasting impression of these characters never left the cultural zeitgeist. If anything, they have only gained in popularity with each passing year.
In dealing with the hurdles of 2020, where the daily news seems to bring one harbinger of doom after another, the new trailer for Bill & Ted Face the Music is enough to turn even the most bitter frown upside-down. Better yet: with so many theatrical releases stuck in limbo, fans will be able to access the film On Demand on September 1.
The unpretentious, matter-of-fact nature that informs both Bill & Ted and Winter & Reeves is much-needed right now. Like most of the rest of us, they’re feeling their way through life as best they can under less-than-excellent circumstances.
The synopsis for Face the Music sounds distinctly in sync with our aging heroes:
"“…to fulfill their rock and roll destiny, [Bill & Ted] set out on a new adventure when a visitor from the future warns them that only their song can save life as we know it…”"
To further sweeten the forthcoming release of Face the Music, Winter, Reeves, co-stars Samara Weaving, Bridgette Lundy-Paine, William Sadler (reprising his Bogus Journey role as Death), writers Chris Matheson and Ed Solomon, and director Dean Parisot will be participating in a panel discussion for SDCC’s virtual Comic-Con@Home on Saturday, July 25 at 3pm PST.
Until then…remember to be excellent to each other!
