This 1972 Wes Craven offering is gritty, gory and disturbing. Two girls are heading into the city to attend a rock concert. Instead of scoring some weed for a good time, they end up being abducted, tortured and brutalized by psychopathic convicts.

Not for the faint of heart, The Last House on the Left is documentary style in its approach. That cinematic touch makes the events in the film seem extremely realistic. Prepare for some sleepless nights after watching this one.

The Woods (Amazon): Sept. 1

If you are a Bruce Campbell fan and want to expand your viewing horizons beyond the Evil Dead trilogy, check out this Lucky McKee directed witch pic. The actor plays Joe Fasulo, the father of troubled teen, Heather (Agnes Bruckner).

After a prank goes awry, Joe and his wife Alice (Emma Campbell) decide that their daughter is in desperate need of discipline. So, they ship her off to the prestigious Falburn Academy for girls.

In addition to learning the usual subjects, Heather finds out that she has some supernatural abilities. Which is just perfect for this school’s extracurricular activities.

Scream (Tubi): Sept. 1

With Scream 5 in the news, and a release date for the latest installment in the franchise predicted for Jan. 14, 2022, what better time than now to revisit the original film that started it all?  Get ready to revisit Randy’s rules for surviving a horror movie because they are going to come in handy for the next generation of Ghostface victims.
