Jack Quaid joins the cast of new and familiar faces in Spyglass Media Group’s Scream 5 which is set for release in Jan. 2022.
When it comes to the world of horror cinema these days, any news is good news. That’s why the latest info coming from Deadline should excite fans of the Scream franchise. Jack Quaid, who can be seen on Amazon’s hit show The Boys, has been cast in the upcoming Scream 5.
Quaid joins veterans David Arquette and Courteney Cox as well as recent additions, Jenna Ortega and Melissa Barrera in this fifth installment. We still have to wonder how the franchise will fare without the late Wes Craven at the helm. Details on who Jack Quaid specifically plays are scarce at best, but incorporating so many newcomers into the franchise should definitely revitalize the slasher.
Creator Kevin Williamson returns as co-producer, while Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett of the Radio Silence filmmaking group, direct a screenplay written by James Vanderbilt and Guy Busick. Scream 5 doesn’t have any plot details as of yet but hopefully this team can pull it off. With the franchise being a massive moneymaker it’s likely this won’t be the last installment.
Jack Quaid, who is the son of actors Dennis Quaid and Meg Ryan, got his break on HBO’s Vinyl. He would go on to play the lead role of vigilante Hughie Campbell, in Amazon Prime’s The Boys, now entering its second season.
Scream 5 is set to be released on Jan. 14 2022. Will this film live up to its predecessors? We will have to wait and see.
